Members who have planned shower/bathroom renovations - important!

Maintenance of drainage and pipes in the bath- and shower rooms. This information is primarily directed to members who have plans to renovate their bath/shower rooms.

Our housing have turned 50 years old. As part of the established long-term maintenance plan the drainage and pipes connected to the bathrooms need to gradually be renewed within the next coming years.

To prevent that old drainage and pipes remain in your bathroom facilities after your renovation,
the Tingvallen Board of directors has decided to compensate financially for the tearing down of the old equipment in your bath/shower facilities and replace the old  drainage and pipes to new ones.

The board of directors decision for financial compensation is valid as of 2019-04-01.
If you plan to renovate your bath/shower room and before you start the process, contact our building manager, Robert Bertilsson vicevarden@tingallen.se

FAQ:
Q: I moved to Tingvallen in 2015. How can I find information whether the upgrading of the drainage and  pipes has already been done for my bathrooms?
A: If you moved in before 2018 the replacement of the old pipes have most likely not been replaced. The drainage system has most likely been replaced. If you are uncertain, contact vicevarden@tingvallen.se

Q: We plan to renovate in 2020 or 2021. Will we miss out of the financial subsidies you offer regarding the tearing down of the old material?
A: No. But when you know the date and which company will do the renovation you must immediately inform vicevärden.

Q: Am I forced to renovate the shower/bathroom? This will impose on my private financial situation!
A: No, you are not forced to renovate your shower/bathroom.

Q: I do not intend to renovate my bathroom nor my shower room. In what way can you exchange the drainage pipes anyway? Will you tear down the walls and how will you restore it? Do I have to pay for this?
A: This initative to compensate financially for the tearing down of your shower/ bathroom is to encourage you to renovate within some years. If you do not intend to renovate your bathroom ever, you will in the future be obliged to give Tingvallen permission to change the pipes and drainage as old pipes can cause flooding and damage. As a member you are responsible for keeping the bathrooms in good condition. Thus, you will have to restore the shower/bathroom as your responsibility, which will most likely lead to a general renovation.

Q: I have already booked the dates for renovating my bathroom and vicevärden is informed.  How does the logistics work when you will tear down the old equipment and the company I booked will do the renovation?
A:
As a first step, you as a member have to contact the Tingvallens company (contact information from the building manager upon request) regarding new pipes and drainage. When this is settled, contact the company you have engaged for the renovation. Please note, the new sealing layers are you financially responsible for.

Q: I live in a two-room apartment. Will the drainage and pipes project affect my renovation plans for my showerroom?
A: No, only indirectly if your neighbour upstairs will do a renovation.
